The ruling Trinamool Congress has criticised President Droupadi Murmu’s comments on the RG Kar rape and murder case, questioning her silence on similar cases which happened in other states.
In a post on X, party spokesperson Kunal Ghosh said, “I heard the President on the issue of RG Kar. I respect her. Unnao, Hathras, Bilkis, Manipur did not shake the heart of yours? Did you not see Odisha, Maharashtra, Uttarakhand? Why did you keep silent during the protests of golden girls like Sakshee Malikkh? Is it difficult to speak against the BJP?”
Ghosh was reacting to President Murmu’s interview with news agency PTI, where she expressed her dismay and horror over the rape and murder case of a 31-year-old trainee doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.
