The Chinese government on Saturday presented a formal protest to the United States over the conversation between President-elect Donald Trump and Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen last Friday.
China has urged Washington to maintain its commitment to the principle of a “single China” by which it moves away from Taiwan’s pro-independence aspirations in favour of Beijing.
